The Journal of the American Liszt Society (JALS) is published twice annually. It contains articles written by scholars who research topics related to Liszt, his work or his interests and ideals. For example, because Liszt was an avid supporter of contemporary music in his day, articles on contemporary music have a place in the Journal. As the Journal is intended for performers and scholars alike, articles on music performance and performance practice may be found.
The European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) has recently listed the Journal of the American Liszt Society on its list of composed-oriented standard international journals "with a good reputation among researchers of the field in different countries." Among the criteria for inclusion is the selection of articles, which must be based on an objective review policy. Quality control is normally to be achieved through peer review. The journal must also fulfil basic publishing standards. This is a first for JALS.
Each member receives two issues of the Journal and two Newsletters each year. From time to time membership lists are compiled and published (often as an addendum to the Journal).
To submit articles, reviews, and the like, please contact the JALS Editor, Rena Charnin Mueller, at JALS Editor.
